PostSubject: The Fated Meeting   Thu Jul 12, 2012 5:21 pm

The day in Florence, Italy was marred by the heat of the afternoon sun, though it was gradually cooling down as the day was quickly turning into a cool, beautiful sunset. The Piazza Signoria, a famous spot in the Athens of the Renaissance, was alive with the bustling movement of a large city. The Piazza, a tourist spot throughout the year, was more alive than usual with people, so much so that the residents could not tell that, in the midst of the ground, a group was lurking in the shadows, even in public they could not be deterred. Armed with only the desire to destruction and war, these assassins moved, bearing down on their target as they inched ever closer to drawing him out.

Within the Piazza, a young man was sleeping, his body still accustomed to the lively morning crowds of the Piazza, he stayed in a peaceful slumber as the city continued its daily activities. H.J. had had a hard night of partying with his friends yesterday, and while not hungover, was a big fan of taking naps. His days had seemed to stretch into long hours working down the street in a restaurant in the Piazza, and staying up late with his friends doing things around Italy. It was an easy existence, but H.J. wanted something more.

He woke up close to to sunset, feeling slightly more refreshed than usual, but still lethargic and grumpy from his terrible sleeping schedule. The only thing he had planned today was to do more training, perfecting his ability to conjure illusions and strengthen his capacity to use them. Since his teacher left, he was having trouble managing to progress his art any further than the few spells that were taught to him, and though he had made several tactics and abilities from those few spells, he was still far from his master's level of expertise.

"Im still far from perfect, but I need to try harder for that promised day"

"Stop Him!"

With a flash of his blade, Takashi tore into the enemy gunman so fast that he did not have time to react. The streets of Florence were quickly becoming a battleground between the two warring factions, and Takashi and his men needed to get out of there before the secretive battle went public in the Piazzas. The two mafia families were fighting in a war for territory, and Florence was their goal; a beautiful and aged city was one of the greatest assets in Northern Italy. The city was waging a secret war, and the Stella Polare were losing. As far as young swordsmen could tell, all that were left were him and his two bodyguards, Bruno and Renato. Armed with only their guns and Takashi's sword, they were unable to contact any other division of their ground forces, as far as they could tell, they were alone.

Their opponent was the Teretti Famiglia, the oldest rival the Polare has ever faced, but this time it was different, this time they were stronger, much stronger than before. Though many of their foot soldiers appeared to be regular fighters, these numbers should not have been able to eliminate the entire Polare force that was sent to defend Florence. With the tides quickly turning, it was time for Takashi to bring out his secret weapon.

"Bruno, Renato, we need to head for the Piazza Signoria, according to the 13th Boss, the Mist Guardian Candidate lives there, and was already trained by The Old Man"

"But Sir, that's a kilometer away from here, do you think we can make it without the Teretti noticing us?"

Looking out from the alleyway, it appeared that the Piazza they resided into was empty, with several exits shooting off into different areas, they could move unnoticed " Its worth the shot, with a Illusionist on our side, we can turn the tide with only the 3 of us"

Taking off into the Piazza, they aimed for the closest exit, the one that would take them towards the Piazza Signoria, and their Mist Guardian that would help them win the day

"Ughhh... time to make dinner"

Waking up just before the night rolled around, H.J. got up and made himself some pasta that he had bought at the market below in the square. Working on dinner, he was slowly awoken by the smell of the pasta cooking. In the distance he could here the sounds of commotion, but it hardly phased him. It was common for yelling and moving around in the Piazza's, especially in the Signoria, the most famous square in all of Florence. The sound of fireworks going off in the distance seemed a bit unusual, but H.J. did not really pay attention.

Just as the pasta was almost done, H.J. heard a knock at his door, quizzical because he almost never had company over unannounced. Move quickly towards the door, he opened it and was met with a large handgun pointed directly at his face. Unsure of what to do, he raised his hands above his head, and allowed his attackers into his house, though not be choice. The man were in tuxedos, each one of them sporting an angry look, odd scars and a uniquely black and brown striped tie. The man with the gun ordered him to sit down, while the others ransacked his apartment.

"Are you the Mist Guardian?"

H.J. had never heard the term before, much less knew if he was one "What is a Mist Guardian?"

"Do you have ties with the Stella Polare Famiglia"

Again, he had never heard of the Stella Polare Family "No, just take what you want and go"

The man with the gun looked at H.J. and lead him into the kitchen, while the others searched around the house for something, possibly pertaining to their questions

"Boss, we wont be able to make it!

Bruno had pointed out that across the bridge, one of the few able to take them across the Arno and into the center of Florence, was swarming with soldiers of the Teretti family. The group of gunmen had created a checkpoint into the center of the ancient parts of the Italian city, stopping every single car crossing the bridge and checking it for any member of the Stella Polare Famiglia. Their only way across was on this bridge, and though they had a plan, they were unsure of its success.

Taking a parked vespa from in front of a restaurant, they cut the lock on it and took off, weaving through the heavy traffic in front of the Teretti checkpoint, Bruno and Renato moved quickly down the street and straight through the checkpoint. Catching the men off guard, they began to chase them down the street as the vespa crossed the Arno. Opening fire on the fleeing bodyguards, they guard was momentarily averted from the checkpoint.

"Sanzu Road Step"

In a moment, Takashi had appeared between the guards and unleashed an incredibly fast strike upon the unaware soldiers, cut them down in quick succession before they were entirely aware that he had attacked them. His Sanzu Road Step was his fastest and strongest technique, strong enough to tear through their strengthened body armor underneath their tuxedos. With all three men down, Takashi raced to catch up with Bruno and Renato as they headed for the Piazza Signoria, where they would be able to find their illusionist

According to the information given to him by Oyaji, the 13th Mist Guardian for the current boss, he old man had trained a student in Florence that would grow up to be a wonderful Mist candidate for the 14th Boss, should he be able to unite the Guardian candidates under his control.

"There was an old man before, he left something strange with me, I left it underneath the bed"

Remembering back to the time that his master, before leaving him several years ago, had told him that on a certain day the time would come for him to use his powers and meet a man who would lead him. With the sudden arrival of these armed gunmen, H.J. had assumed that they were apart of the mafia, and that this was his first test towards meeting up with the Stella Polare Famiglia, it was clear he was in the midst of the enemy, and he would need to get out. Waiting for the perfect moment, he acted.

"We found something!" H.J. had always left a box full of some of his favorite mementos and special trinkets, though it held nothing connecting him to the Stella Polare, it provided an amazing distraction. The gunmen turned briefly to look in the direction of H.J.'s bedroom, looking at the box they had found underneath his bed, it bought H.J. a single moment, enough time for him to enter into the mind of his captors and conjured up an illusion.

"Bye, shitty Mafioso"

The room was quickly filled with the spitting images of H.J. appearing on after the other until he had filled the entire room with his visage. Each one was a spitting image of H.J. and while each of them appeared to be the same person, the real H.J. had hidden within a crowd of his own creation, effectively providing a perfect distraction. Quickly catching on to his ruse, the gunmen opened fire on the simple illusions, destroying them as they tore apart the room in a shower of bullets, Though all the illusions were gone, H. J. was no where to be found, having already escape in the middle of his ruse, leaving the room empty and damaged . His captors were dumbfounded by his escape, unsure of how he was able to easy evade their bullets and make it out the door with them recognizing it.

"Sir! The Piazza Signoria will become a battleground once we find this illusionist, do you really think we can the fight all of them alone?"

Stopping in the center of the Piazza Signoria, Takashi was limited on what he could do, the square was actually in the form of an L-shape, taking up a small part of the larger Piazza del Duomo, and was virtually impossible to defend well with only 3 men, even with their illusionist, they would not be able to increase their military forces by any amount, only pretend they could. They would of course need to find the illusionist first, which would be difficult to find since they did not know anymore more than the fact that he was a young man.

"Bruno! arrange for our transporter to meet us in the Arno, Renato, give us some room, ill get the illusionist"

Renato fired a single shot into the air, awakening the crowd with the violent roar of his pistol and sending them running in terror out of the Piazza, since the Mafia refused to harm innocent civilians, the crowd was running towards the Teretti family than the three of them were. Takashi looked around the Piazza, unsure of who he would should be looking for. Quickly looking into the apartment rooms above the square, he was quickly alerted by the sound of gunfire coming from the apartment above him. Takashi ran towards the entrance, but was blindsided by a man running down the stairs.

"Hold on!"

The man in front of him was young, roughly the same age as Takashi, his brown hair and brown eyes were a startling pair as the rest of him appeared entirely normal. Unlike Takashi's strange lilic colored features, he looked like a normal person, though not like any of the Italian residents in Florence. He gave off a strange presence, like he had a certain strange quality to him that made him stand out amongst the others. He was clearly not the enemy, but there was something about him. "Are you the my Mist Guardian?"

H.J. had a strange feeling about the man he ran into, like he could feel his willpower pulsating from his light purple eyes that made him trustworthy. Refusing to waste any more time with his captors on his heels. He could hear them leaving his room on the third floor, where they would most likely come down the same entrance that the two of them were currently wasting time in.

"I guess i am, since that's what those guys chasing me right now are looking for"

The intensity that the man gave off made H.J. realize that this was clearing the intended purpose of his master's cryptic message, from what he could be told, he was to await the day when a man would meet him and bring him into the life; clearly the lilac-haired man was the one he meant. Though he appeared a little beaten and dirty, he still radiated the same intensity when his features softened into a smile. He was told he was the Mist Guardian, whatever that was, for the Stella Polare Mafia family. He inferred that as a 'guardian' he was trained in order to defend this man, but he was unsure of how he would defend him, considering his weak constitution and general lack of skill. After a few moments, he was able to put two and two together.

"You must need me for my illusion powers dont you? an old man taught me them, i assume to make me this Mist Guardian you need"

"That was Oyaji! he worked for the previous boss as his Mist Guardian, and we were looking for an illusionist"

Their timely meeting was interrupted by H.J.'s former captives, who had approached from the upstairs room and get already had their guns drawn upon their arrival. They were low-level members of the Teretti Family who had thought they could capture the Mist Guardian before their opponents had a chance to claim him. With gun's already drawn, they had already started the fight, Takashi just finished it, in a moment.

"Sanzu Road Step"

Appearing behind his attackers, Takashi had struck them down quick his signature technique, a blindingly fast strike to each of their chests, the blade cut them so lightly that they could not feel it until he had mentioned the name of his attack. His skills as a hitman were strong enough to easily outpace and outclass the weaker soldiers the Teretti had to offer. Of course, that was not they all they had to offer.

"Boss! The Teretti are advancing on the plaza!, what do we do?"

Turning to his Mist Guardian, he only had one request for him "We're going to need you to conjure up one hell of an illusion, think youre up for that?"

"You'd be surprised at what kinds of tricks Ive been learning for this day"

Of the many spells he had learned from his master, he was still too inexperienced to fully utilize the powers that his master had taught him, but what he could do, he could do very well. Using purely what he could do, he had created dozens of applications and tactics with purely the ability to conjure up images of himself and change his appearance. He had a particular illusion in mind that was built for situations where the opponent had more firepower than they did.

"So its just the four of us right? Ill just need to focus a little more power than usual..."

He had learned early on into his private training that if he applied more focus and mental power to what he was working on, he could produce more of the simpler illusions by concentrating only on the spell he was casting. Taking his concentration to the absolute limit, he activated his illusion, conjuring up several dozen images of himself and then changed their appearance to match each of the mafioso present.

"Sorry, this one requires me to stay completely focused, so i cant fight"

"And these illusions have no attack power?"

"No, but the key to this ruse is keeping yourself hidden amongst the fakes and attack, I will synchronize the movements of the fakes with your own attacks, so the opponent wont know where we're attacking from"

"Then its time for battle, this is my last one"

Armed with nothing but his sword, Takashi had done what he had forgone doing this entire time, and taken some medicine from his pocket, a gift to him from the 13th Boss. A single pill in a container, he ingested it as the Teretti had began to surround the Piazza for the attack. The gift from the 13th Boss was a Dying Will Pill, a single dosage was enough to turn the users resolution into a flame. As a Hitman, he had never relied on any sort of special medicine of narcotic to make himself stronger, but he followed his Boss's words, 'When you are facing an absolute defeat, this pill will give you the strength to win'. His body quickly turned hot as his resolution to fight had awakened; the space above his forehead had burst into a bright orange flame.

"Bruno! Renato! H.J.! now is the time to strike!"

The Teretti had already begun their attack as Takashi armed himself, soldiers approaching from each of the square's three entrances, they had advanced into the square before they were stopped by the increasing number of illusions appearing around them. Some were deterred, others opened fire into the crowd of fake body doubles. It was then that the three Stella Polare soldiers counterattacked, preoccupied with the large army of imaginary enemies, they could not see the showers are bullets coming at them from somewhere within the crowd.

Takashi was doing fine on his own, empowered by his Dying Will Pill, his body was strengthened by the power of his Dying Will Flames, allowing him to move faster and strike harder than he had ever been able to. Each slash of his blade dealt more damage, and his body continued moving without fatigue, cutting through the incoming soldiers. The foot soldiers were nothing to worry about, but he was more concerned with drawing out the general, and destroying his weapon.

"While your mind struggles with the impossibilities, you have already lost..."
Remembering the words of his master, H.J. had begun to turn the tide of the battle with his illusions. The enemy foot soldiers has struggled with the dozens of possible opponents in the form of illusions, the three real men were able to attack unabated, peppering the opponents with gunfire and blade slashes.

H.J. was alive for the first time in years, though he was not apart of the fight directly, he was singlehandedly responsible for turning the entire tide of the conflict in the Piazza. He had no other skill than his mind and his illusions, but if it suited being a Mist Guardian, than those two traits were the best things in the world right now. With the enemy in disarray, they were no match for the firepower of the newly strengthened Stella Polare family, leaving the wounded and dead on the battlefield, the remainder of the enemy troops had exited the Piazza just as quickly as they had came. Even though the battlefield of the Signoria had become quiet, H.J. could feel the lingering feeling of foreboding, even though the battle appeared to be over. He ended his greatest illusion, and stood quietly alongside his comrades until the silence broke

"There's something coming, and its powerful!"

The square was awaken with the sound of a light buzzing, filling the area with the unending dread of an anticipated attack, the buzz grew louder, and louder until the crackling of electricity was all around them. The crackle grew until it was around them, cutting across the night sky as a bright green bird, moving with the precision and skill of a missile, it littered the battlefield with bolts of lightning.

"Those are Box Weapons, dreadful creatures, they're basically robotic drones powered by flames"

The Box Weapon, a newly created invention some months back had been the talk of the mafia world when they had become commercially available in underground markets. It was because they were easily to reproduce and store that they had become such a huge hit among smaller Mafia Families. Powered by Dying WIll Flames, the latest technological advancements quickly out-shined other conventional weaponry; they were the reason Takashi's men had been decimated in a surprise attack earlier this morning. The Stella Polare's guns were not match for the pure firepower of Box Weapons, and they were quickly scattered around the town an destroyed one by one. This particular version was the Pernice Fulmine, a common aerial Box whose body was powered by the incredibly dangerous Lightning Flames.

"Boss, we need to leave! our ride is almost here, we got the Mist Guardian, lets go!" Bruno shouted from the edge of the Piazza, their departure point on the armor is merely a block away, with Florence already lost to the Teretti, they had no choice but to retreat now or be killed by overwhelming forces.

"No, weak flames like this cant match my sword, you guys go!"

Driven harder by his empowered resolution, fueled with Dying WIll Flames, Takashi felt the desire to defeat his opponents override his own need for self-preservation, which only made him stronger. Preparing to fight the Pernice Fulmine one on one, he felt the power of several more Box Weapons arising from outside the square, ready to follow the first into battle. Drawing his sword, he charged in after the enemy.

Struggling to pick himself back off the ground, H.J. had the feeling that they should not stay here for another minute longer, otherwise they could be killed. When he was hit by the bright bird's lightning attack, it went off like a grenade, tossing him several feet away as it tore the ground apart with bolts of electricity. He was getting a disturbing sense that his new ally would rather get all of them killed in the fight than stay. H. J. had to make a decision: stay with the boss and get killed, or see the losing situation and get out with their lives.

"Boss! that's 17 more Box Weapons to fight, your Dying Will Mode wont last another minute, youll die if you fight them!" Luckily Bruno was smart enough to act while H.J. was still lost in making his decision.

"Ill cover our escape! But we need to leave!"

Marshaling up the last of his strength after using so much of it in his grand illusion, he made one last illusory clone of each of them to be left in their place, so as to not allow the Teretti to locate their escape route. It was one of the first things his master taught him, that every entrance and exit should be covered in the fantasy of an illusion, so as not to give away your position to the enemy; his training to be the Mist Guardian prepared him for that.

However, it appeared his Boss would not listen to him, even as the flame above his head gave out and disappeared, his time limit was up, and there was no point in trying to pretend. He grabbed his new Boss from behind, covering his mouth as he activated his illusory substitute to take the place of his ally.

"Now watch what happens Boss"

Running down the block after Bruno and Renato, they had round them waiting alongside another man, the driver of the speedboat that would get them out of Florence. The large explosion coming from the Piazza Signoria showed that they were in over their head, and that it was best to retreat.

"Dammit!"

Thrown into the back of the speedboat by his two bodyguards, Takashi was both angry and defeated. He had lost a lot of good men during the surprise attack, but what hurt his pride the most was that he had to leave the battle before it had even began. The worst of all was that he had to admit to himself he was in over his head, he would have been captured or killed in that attack. Gripping his weapon tightly, he was more angry at himself than with his Family, who had saved his life on more than one occasion; especially his Mist Guardian, who had most likely saved his life with his skill in illusions, though he was not as good as Oyaji, they would both need to get stronger for the coming battles with the Teretti.

"The nearest base is the Tuscano Vecchio, we should be able to reach it in a few hours if we dont meet any resistance"

It had to have been close to midnight before they were entirely out of Florence, the Arno, dark blue like the darkness of space, would take them all the way to Mediterranean if they followed it long enough, but the base in Pietrasanta, the Tuscano Vecchio, would be a good place to rest and recover while they would plan their counterattack.
